Lookup an IP address
Enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address to review public network information.
Understand the Network Behind an IP Address
An IP address can reveal useful public information about the network responsible for routing it. ROSVIX organizes this information to help with troubleshooting, investigation and general network research.
ASN and organization
An Autonomous System Number identifies a network participating in Internet routing. Organization and ISP information can help indicate which provider or network is associated with an address.
Reverse DNS
A reverse DNS lookup may return a hostname associated with an IP address. Not every address has a PTR record, and the hostname alone does not establish the identity of an individual user.
Geolocation
Country, region and city information is derived from IP geolocation data and should be treated as approximate. Results may identify an ISP, data center or network location instead of a physical device.
Useful applications
IP lookups can assist with network troubleshooting, log analysis, hosting research and investigation of unfamiliar Internet addresses. They should be combined with other evidence for security decisions.
IP Address Lookup
Look up an IP address to review its approximate location, ASN, ISP, network ownership and reverse DNS information.
Understand where an IP belongs.
ROSVIX combines local IP classification, reverse DNS and public network information to give you a clear overview of an IP address.
How to interpret IP address information
An IP lookup identifies the public network that announces an address and provides approximate information about ownership, ASN, ISP and reverse DNS.
What the result can show
Network operator, autonomous system number, approximate region and reverse-DNS naming can help with basic troubleshooting and incident triage.
How to investigate responsibly
Compare the result with your expected provider or service. Record the address, time and related domain name, then use documented provider support or abuse channels where appropriate.
Important limitation
IP geolocation is approximate. An address does not reliably identify an individual, and shared cloud or CDN addresses can serve many unrelated websites.
Example: an IP address is context, not identity
An IP lookup can identify a provider, network owner, approximate location or reverse-DNS record. It usually cannot identify a specific person. Shared hosting, mobile networks and cloud services commonly place many users behind one public address.
